October 21, 2021 marks the 73rd anniversary of International Credit Union Day also known as ICU Day®!
ICU Day has been celebrated every third Thursday since October 1948. This day celebrates and spreads awareness of the key credit union philosophy “People helping people”. By celebrating the global efforts of the credit union movement collectively, over 56,000 credit unions everywhere, will take October 21st to recognize the history behind the credit union movement and to identify and share the achievements of creating a better member experience, for all 274 million members from around the world.
ICU Day is brought to you by the champions of the credit union movement, The World Council of Credit Unions and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). Together we all contribute to helping to spread the belief of all people having access to affordable, reliable and sustainable financial services for all our members, meeting them at their financial terms.
Where ever and whatever it may be, credit unions everywhere strive to be a resourceful financial institution for all members' financial situations. By doing so we can achieve this year’s theme of “Building financial health for a brighter tomorrow”.
Today we celebrate you, our valued members. Happy International Credit Union Day!
